About the Event
Join us for Leesburg First Friday on July 11!
Did you know that Loudoun County served as a safe haven for the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and other key documents for a few weeks during the War of 1812.
The British were coming to invade and burn Washington so Stephen Pleasonton, a government clerk, and colleagues moved the documents using a caravan of carts and wagons to Rokeby Mansion here in Leesburg.
Learn more in our exhibits, give some thought to where you would hide our foundational documents and get a FREE copy of the Rokeby: A Page In History publication if you are one of the first 25 visitors.
Stop by during our extended First Friday hours from 4 – 7 p.m. Free admission, no ticket or RSVP necessary.
