History of Loudoun County

The museum’s Discovery Room features a small replica of a early 19th century Quaker kitchen (complete with hearth, cookware, and utensils), activity baskets full of reproduction tools and toys, a play area, children’s books, and period costumes for role playing. Based on John Jay Janney’s Virginia, the autobiography of Janney’s boyhood life in Loudoun County during the 1820s, the Discovery Room is the perfect place for children and families to spend an afternoon or meet for a play date.
